KANSAS CITY, KS:  Kansas Speedway is an auto racetrack in Kansas City, Kansas, adjacent to the Village West area. The speedway, which is used by the NASCAR Sprint Cup series and the Indy Racing League, is a 1.5 miles (2.4 km) tri-oval with 15-degree banking in the turns. The track held its first race on June 2, 2001, when the Winston West series contested the Kansas 100. The top-level NASCAR Sprint Cup series holds the annual Camping World RV 400 at the track. In 2004, Joe Nemechek became the first driver to complete the double at Kansas Speedway by winning both the Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series races in one weekend.
